World Golf Hall-of-Famer and five-time champion Bernhard Langer, fellow Hall-of-Famer Ernie Els, defending champion Stephen Ames and 2021 champion Steve Stricker headline early commitments for the 2025 Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO, Naples’ flagship PGA TOUR Champions event, taking place Feb. 14-16 at Tiburón Golf Club’s Black Course.
Langer, 67, tied Hale Irwin’s PGA TOUR Champions record as the winningest player in PGA TOUR Champions history when he captured his fifth Chubb Classic win and 45th PGA TOUR Champions victory in 2023. He was unable to defend his title at the 2024 Chubb Classic due to an Achilles injury. Following his return from injury, he won the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, his 47th PGA TOUR Champions win. Langer will be seeking his record-setting sixth Chubb Classic win in February. He was a 2002 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee.
Els, 55, has recorded 79 professional wins worldwide, including seven PGA TOUR Champions victories. He has won five major championships: the 1994 and 1997 U.S. Open; the 2002 and 2012 Open; and in 2024, the Kaulig Companies Championship (Senior PLAYERS Championship). Els opened his 2025 season by winning the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. Els was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2010.
Ames, 60, is the defending champion at the Chubb Classic after winning the rain-shortened event in 2024 by three strokes over Rocco Mediate. In 2024, Ames captured three wins on PGA TOUR Champions and has amassed 20 professional wins worldwide during his professional career.
Stricker, 57, captured the 2021 Chubb Classic and is a former Naples resident. He has 41 professional wins worldwide and was the winning U.S. Presidents Cup captain in 2017 and winning U.S Ryder Cup captain in 2021.
These four will be among the 78-player field competing in the 54-hole championship Friday-Sunday, Feb. 14-16, for a share of the $1.8 million purse. Players have until 5 p.m. ET on Feb. 7 to commit to the Chubb Classic. Additional commitments will be announced in the coming days leading up to the Feb. 7 deadline. GOLF Channel will televise all three rounds of play.
